Back when I was a teenager my 2 favorite record stores here in Montreal were MARS which was an absolute dump but the prices were always better than every other second hand store around. Nothing was organized except for a few bins like the hard rock/heavy metal bin and that’s where I picked up Metallica’s first  2 albums on the Banzai label for around 10 bucks each complete with the original inner sleeves. Marche Du Disques was in the basement of an old roller rink near Berri metro station. This place was filled with bins and nothing was in order employees walked around with carts stacked with albums and put them wherever there was space. There was no way around it you were there for the day and while you weren’t going to find any Metallica or Motley Crue you could still find some gems, oh did I forget to mention every thing there was 1 dollar and this is where I found the Metal For Lunch album for a buck. It might also be worth noting that this was back when CDs were taking over and everyone was getting rid of their record collections. That is where the majority of my personal collection came from back in the day. These stores were authentic and that’s what were trying to emulate with Heartbreak Records from trying to give the site that old school feel, to scanning every album cover right onto the site, none of the photos you see are stock photos they are actual album cover scans, that’s also why we keep the covers big so you can get a good look at what you’re thinking about buying. There is something for everyone’s taste and budget at Heartbreak Records, so take your time, have a look around, no rush, enjoy the search.

really not into genres. There's music I like and music I don't.

Used to play the drums as a teenager. I wasn't very good.

That freaking sha-boozy song. It's everywhere.

I'm going to go with Hanoi and Michael Monroe. Those guys are the real deal.

I'm not a fan of concerts. Way too many people in one place for my liking.

Back in the 80s, I was always in Old Montreal. The best were Mick & Steve. Great entertainers. 
 
8. Can you sing well? How often do you sing?
I wish I could sing like David Coverdale, but I can't, but that doesn't stop me from singing along. 
 
9. Does music have the power to change your mood? How does music affect you?
Absolutely, there is no way you can put on a Abba song without smiling.

Only dancing with my wife.
 
11. What kind of equipment do you use to listen to music?
A 1972 Sansui with a Hitachi linear record player and a pair of 1968 Zenith omnidirectional speakers. Sounds great to my ears.

I'm always buying albums, I'm always in search of records. 
 
13. Do you like karaoke? Do you have a song that you often sing? What is it?
No! Did it once in my 20s after way to much to drink. It did not sound good. 
 
14. What movie has a very memorable soundtrack?
I love movie soundtracks, so many great ones. But I always go back to Footloose.

I've never been. Musicals really aren't for me.

Never really liked videos, but back in the day, that was the best way to hear the new music. I always found video took away from the music.

Buddy Holly, Michael Monroe, and John Mellencamp so I can ask him why he's always so crabby.

Monday to Friday most of my day at work and driving to and from work.
Friday nights with friends.

No I can’t, yes I did, my older cousin taught me 4 songs on guitar and 2 songs on piano. Plus in school we were taught the recorder.

Not really.

That’s a hard question to answer. I enjoy a lot of different music. That said I think I would go with the Rolling Stones.

Yes I do, even bar bands.
I have been to many concerts. Going to concerts with my high school friends was awesome, but my most memorable would be taking my son when he was 10 years old to his first concert which was Kiss.

I used to when I was younger and taking the public transit to work.
Yes I do enjoy it.

Yes. Calms me down.

1. How often do you listen to music?
Everyday going to work and coming back from work. I also listen to it in the weekends.
 
2. What genres of music do you like? Which do you dislike?
I like all genres of music but I love rock, heavy metal, and old school rap. It really depends on my mood.
 
3. Can you play a musical instrument? Did you play one as a child?
I played guitar and a bit of drums. I haven’t played in years though.
 
4. Can you name a hit song from the past year? Do you like the song, or are you sick of hearing it?
From this year not what I can think of. I go with the flow and will skip a song if I feel sick of it.

I have 2 favourite bands. Kiss, and Metallica.

I do. I have been to a lot of concerts that gave me memories but there are a few that will always standout. My first concert that my dad brought me to Kiss, seeing the Hip with my dad, and Uncle Glen, bringing my dad to see Paul McCartney and Metallica, and seeing AC/DC with my dad on my Birthday.
 
7. Do you see buskers in your city? Do you enjoy it when musicians perform on the street?
Not often these days but I do enjoy street musicians.

No I don’t sing well but I will definitely shout out a song that I love.
 
9. Does music have the power to change your mood? How does music affect you?
Absolutely. It can make me relaxed, pumped up or angry. It all depends on what I listen to.

Yes I love dancing. I love dancing to hip hop, and Latin music.

Car stereo, my phone, record player, and my home sound system.

I do buy records. I haven’t bought a CD in years

Yes I do and my go to would be Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey.

Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, and Batman Forever with U2’s Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me.

Between 5-7 times a week pretty much daily unless it’s a busy day

Likes: R&b, pop, hip-hop, country, rock, classical
Dislikes: heavy metal

Other than playing the recorder in school can’t play an instrument

I’ve been to one concert for my favourite artist Drake and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Always recommend a concert to people now!

I’ll see them at the metro, it could be nice to hear when they are playing but it depends where sometimes you’re not always in the mood for it

Define well…no can’t sing, but will sing often in the car when having music playing

It could change my mood, but usually I’ll listen to songs that work with the mood I’m usually in I’ll rarely find it will change my mood considering what I’m listening to is tailored to my mood at that moment.
 
10. Do you enjoy dancing? What kind of music is good to dance to?
I can’t say I’m an avid dancer but at parties and big gatherings it’s always a good time, I find 80-90s music nice on the dance floor and some good 2000-2010s hits too.
 
11. What kind of equipment do you use to listen to music?
Typically just AirPods when out and about and then a speaker or simply my phone at home or when with a group.

Everything I listen to is all streamed never been one to buy CDs or Records

Never done it out in public only with friends at a house but it’s always fun. Don’t stop believing is always the go to on the stage.

Not a movie but stranger things I’ve found myself going to back to listen to songs from the soundtrack

Musicals wouldn’t be my thing never been, would go to experience it once but nothing more than that.

It would be guitar easily a nice campfire and pulling out a car busting out a song feel like you can’t really beat that

I’ve always liked the gods plan music video from Drake or Michael Jackson beat it but rarely watch music videos now with everything g on Spotify.
